I'm rediscovering this serie in the manga version, which is published in Italian (but they stopped it at fifth volume, *snort*). I remained quite surprised that I managed somehow to follow at least a little bit the animation character design.
I haven't seen Galaxy Express 999 yet... I guess I have to find it somewhere...
Picture looks kind of orginal, but background is too black, maybe little more blue fog could have make it better. But it's my opinion and it looks great even now.

Nowadays, Angel of Amarth is a stupid name. Hybris is much better.
