[more correctly, NSFBSAQ: Not-So-Frequent-But-Still-Asked-Questions]
Why a male nickname if you are female?
Long story short: borrowed from a character of a japanese animation I used to play in a snail-mail RPG. My friends started to call me with his name rather than mine, with the -kun added for joke. And the nickname stuck.
How long have you been drawing?
Before learning to write, and right after learning to walk
What do you use to draw?
Good old pencil on paper, for the initial sketch. To ink I use a variety of methods: on Illustrator, on Photoshop (a tablet is a must) or with a 2B pencil on a magenta-toned print of a scan of the pencil sketch. Why magenta? Well, should be a substitute of the light-blue pencil, but since *all* my printers apparently aren't capable to keep the profile that make it print in pure cyan - thus making a proper color separation in subsequent re-scanning impossible - I use a very light magenta.
You have a tablet?
Sure. A Wacom Intuos2 A5. I suggest to keep drivers always updated at latest version available. Calibrating the pressure sensitivity to my hand was a Pain In The [self-censored] but the results were worth the efforts. I hope...
But... aren't ink pens easier to use?
For an artist with a steady hand, yes. For me, no, because I have shaky hand and I have to use these roundabouts. Besides, this is the reason I'm fast in sketching but painfully slow in inking and coloring. I'm able to use pens only on the simpler drawings.
How did you learn to draw?
Half from school and half by myself. I focused on technical design but I completely lack a draw from life experience, an it shows because I'm still not capable of making real life portraits and such. All the anatomy studies are made on my own, by drawing and referencing classic authors and comic authors.
What are your favourite art styles?
Many, but I particularly dig Bauhaus, Reinassance, Art Nouveau and Baroque. You didn't see the last two coming, uh? ;
)
Artists?
Too many to count. At least but not limited to... Caravaggio, Mantegna, Magnus, HR Giger, Cavazzano, Mucha, Folon, Moebius, Bernini, to name the first few that came to my mind.
Why don't you reply to e-mail/comments/notes/etc?
I try to reply to all e-mail I receive but I lack the spare time to do so in reasonable times. Sorry ^^
;
Same for notes and comments and etc. Plus I noticed that replies from my main account sometimes goes in junk folders. I suspect having a domain that seems randomly typed has something to do with that. (Sometimes I try to reply again using another mail account).
